Fasting: Hunger for God

Mark-Slide-Part13.jpg

Pastor John backtracks in Mark's Gospel and preaches on fasting from Mark 2:18-22.  Fasting is not about doing anything to earn God's grace, favor, or love.  Rather, it is about cultivating our hunger for God and to crucify our desires for other potentially good and satisfying things.  Fasting intentionally positions us to be in a state of hunger and longing so that our eternal desire for God comes to the forefront of our hearts, leading us to being more satisfied in Him than in His good and gracious gifts. We don't wage war as the world does, but with spiritual weapons that demolish strongholds.  Fasting is a chosen weapon to fight against that which subdues our passion for Jesus.
