The Beginning of the End

“O God, who have made all those reborn in Christ a chosen race and a royal priesthood, grant us, we pray, the grace to will and to do what you command, that the people called to eternal life may be one in the faith of their hearts and the homage of their deeds. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.”

In John 11 we see Jesus claiming He will be sacrificed to gather together the scattered children of God. His death and resurrection draw us to Him to be sent out into the world. We renew our mind and heart through Lent in order to bring newness of spirit to the rest of the year in order to complete the works God has for us.

Tomorrow begins Holy Week. As we prepare for it, remember the same people who waved palm leaves and shouted praises spit and cursed the Savior of the world. With our mouths we are guilty of the same sins. Pray for a consistent spirit for this coming week. This is the beginning of the end of the Lenten journey as our hearts gather with Christians all over the world in Jerusalem for Passover.
