“May your unfailing compassion, O Lord, Cleanse and protect your Church, and, since without you she cannot stand secure, may she be always governed by your grace. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.”
This week we meditate on the significance of Christ. Without Jesus, the Church doesn’t have a chance. Jesus is the Cornerstone of the building we are being built into, he is the forerunner of us all and the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
In Ephesians 1:10, Paul writes about Christ’s purpose in coming. For too long we have assumed that heaven and God are somewhere else, and we are here on earth alone. In Ephesians 1:10 we see the opposite to be true in Christ. He brings heaven slamming into earth like two long separate best friends. Heaven and earth are now joined for the rest of eternity. The final scenes of the Bible have a new Jerusalem floating down from the sky to this earth. Thanks to Jesus, heaven and earth have collided, never to be separated again.
Think about heavenly things today, because you are charged with continuing Christ’s effort of bringing heaven to the people on this planet every single day. Meditate on Christ and what He stands for, because in Him heaven and earth smash together.
