As we prepare to fast this Sunday evening through Tuesday evening, we wanted to give you some prayer points... things we are asking God for. Otherwise you are simply not eating... and that would be lame.
Also as you consider what to fast from, we simply want you to be obedient to what God is asking you to do. For some additional thoughts and insights on how to fast see Mark's earlier blog.
Sunday Evening Prayer Point
Evening - Healthy Community Groups - This is one our main goals this year. Ask God for raise up community group leaders and community group coaches. Ask Him to allow our groups to become healthy (seeing salvation, new people are connected and groups multiply and launch). Pray that we have a greater understanding for how to include our children in community groups. This way we can live out our mission to take the land and see the lost saved, the lonely set in families and our church look more like our city (Matthew 13:8; Luke 10:2; John 15:5) .
Monday Prayer Points
Morning - Power - We are asking Jesus to Baptize us with the Holy Spirit and with Power in order that we could continue to do and continue to teach all that Jesus began to do and began to teach (Luke 3:16; Acts 1:1 & 8).
Noon - New Location - We are growing! We are asking God for some retail space at Walnut Hill and Audelia (next to the CrossFit). God owns all the land (Psalm 24:1), and while we would like this spot, we are willing to find His leading. We want to build something that will bless our city (Jeremiah 29:7). Pray our church is lead by the Spirit (Romans 8:14).
Evening - New Elders - Another big request and need is additional elders to lead our church. The first requirement is that a man would desire the role (1 Timothy 3:1). Ask God to burn in the hearts of our men through the Holy Spirit with a God-given desire to lead. In addition, ask the Holy Spirit to make it clear who He wants to become the next Elder(s) at Normandy (Acts 20:28).
Tuesday Prayer Points
Morning - Rise in Faith - Pray and ask God to cause us to rise in faith! Remember faith is commitment without knowing. Ask the Father to give us the desire to please Him by faith (Matthew 17:20; Hebrews 11:1 & 6).
Noon - Rise in Identity - Pray and ask God for us to rise into our true identities in Christ. Identity is formed in relationships through attachment. When we become attached to someone or something it forms our loves and our loves form our identity. Pray that we attach to the Living God (Romans 8:14-17; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 4:6).
Evening - Rise in Action - Ask God that our church would rise into action and that we would take seriously the Great Commission. Ask that God would do a work in our family in order that we would continuously make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20; 2 Timothy 2:2).
Hopefully this will give you fuel to pray and a heart for what God is doing in our midst. If you have any additional questions, as your community group leader!
