Four years ago Isaac and I traveled to South Sudan with Seed Effect as they were launching their first set of loans.  It was in South Sudan where we clearly felt the Lord seeking after us like we never had before, started to see healing in our marriage, and learned to trust the Lord like never before.  In South Sudan we started to see God’s power like we had never experienced.  There our eyes were opened to physical needs like we couldn’t imagine and our hearts began to burn for the Sudanese to know Jesus.

The circumstances we saw on the trip were beyond hard.  However, in the midst of the incredibly hard places we could remember being hopeful that someday this community could be changed through the work God was doing through Seed Effect.  It was obvious there were both great physical and spiritual needs – and we were so grateful for the opportunities Seed Effect could offer.

The most memorable experience of the trip was when we visited a local orphanage.  God opened our eyes and wrecked our heart for the orphan.  And it was there that we began to see Seed Effect as orphan prevention.  In South Sudan God put a strong desire in our hearts to adopt even though we had never considered it before.

When we returned from our trip we began the adoption process.  After years of waiting, God in His love and mercy united us with our precious son, Zane Mukisa, from Uganda last year.

It was in Sudan where God began revealing plans for us that we could never have imagined.   The crazy circumstances that led us to Zane brought us even more revelation of His unfailing love and faithfulness.

“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory…” Ephesians 3:20-21
